Ultra Music Festival by Inán
In a tent off the beaten path at this year’s Ultra Music Festival, the day-long culmination of Winter Music Conference’s festivities in Miami, Florida, local performers got their chance to show off their skills in the traditional Ultra feature known as the Florida All-Stars. Those who stopped by to check out Devine and Emily Play undoubtedly found themselves to have made a wise decision. The duo started off their live performance with a lush, uplifting tune reminiscent of trance “the way it used to be”, before veering into a delicious concoction of funky breaks layered with Ms. Play’s ethereal vocals. Highlighting the performance was the duo’s stunning cover of Blondie - Heart of Glass, which has since been released on the label Breaks Collective. Ms. Play proved to be a worthy substitute for Deborah Harry herself, hitting every note against the bass-laden breaky background. Energetic and extremely danceable, Devine and Emily Play’s masterful work seemed to make an hour pass in an instant, and left listeners wanting more. This is one act that should not be missed!

Fall Release 2005
Break Collective & Culture Records......
Devine & emilyPLAY> have been in the studio continually coming up with new songs and fine tuning their live show. Following up on the success of Breaks Collective #019 "Heart of Glass", they already have three new vocal tracks complete. Devine & Emily continue on their hectic production schedule of completing at least three tracks a week. The new vocal tracks explore a more edgy and electro affected side of progressive breaks. Expect something out on vinyl by Fall 2005.
